Millions of years ago the Himalayan Mountains were beneath a huge ocean. As the waters receded, they revealed a gift of Nature; pure natural Rock Salt. Today the salt is hand carved to create beautiful natural products rich in minerals, untouched by pollution, and believed to have many healing benefits.
Cooking with your Salt Plate before you start cooking: Put the salt plate in cold oven & turn on the heat to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, slowly bringing up the temperature. Remove the plate after the oven reaches 250 degrees and let the plate cool for about 30 minutes. Return the plate to the oven & heat fully to the recommended cooking temperature of 400 - 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not put the Sushi Plate in oven as the plastic feet will melt. Care & Cleaning: Please do not put the plate under running water or soak in water as the Salt Plate will dissolve over time. Let the Salt Plate cool completely (often overnight) to room temperature before cleaning. Himalayan Salt Plates are naturally anti-microbial (meaning no harmful bacterial or fungi can grow on the plate) so no detergents are needed to clean the plate. First squeeze a lemon to give the plate a quick rinse and then scrub with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any food debris. Dry surface thoroughly. Salt picks up colors from foods easily. The more care you take with your cooking the better your Salt Kitchenware will look. Over time, small cracks & fissures may develop.
